I like using him for clearing out enemies, while other rangers are be better for taking out bosses. His single-target damage isn't as good, but his crowd control is great. Sure, gladiator and boxer are better melee rangers, but whipper shines in certain situations. Whipper - The whipper is one of my favorite classes and I don't think he gets enough praise. He can be amazing for tanking damage with the right build and he is solid overall as a melee ranger. He has a lot of good weapons and no weaknesses.īoxer - I don't like the boxer as much as the gladiator, but he is still in the same tier in my opinion.

Gladiator feels really strong and he doesn't require a lot of customization to be good. Gladiator - I decided to put gladiator and boxer in A tier because although they are extremely good, melee rangers are not as essential for your team. The only thing that sets him back slightly is his lack of physical damage, but the rest of your team can easily compensate for that. The best thing about the magician is his lack of weaknesses. Magician - This is one of my favorite classes because of the huge variety of good weapons. He has a variety of weapons to use that deal a lot of damage, and he can out-range many bosses. After the castle, sniper starts becoming really good. Triple shot is probably the best early game weapon. Like the priest, sniper's early game suffers because his standard weapons fire in a slow arch pattern and it is hard to hit enemies. Sniper - For me, sniper and magician are two of the best rangers in the game, but I think sniper is slightly better. Other than that you generally will need some kind of tank and something with high range. In higher levels the priest's effects become super powerful so priests are usually a good idea.

Priest's only weakness is the early game, since his damage is weak and his aura is still getting stronger. Black crystal and some vampire card to keep it alive and take enemy fire. They are so good if you have a lot of range and the right jewels. Another thing worth noting is the poison staffs. I usually go with purely damage and some range. It can make your other 3 rangers so much stronger. His biggest strengths are the damage and defense auras obviously. Priest - I always include a priest in my team because he is extremely useful for various reasons.

I don't think any class is 'bad' but some definitely feel better/easier than others. I haven't experimented with every build, but I have a general idea of how every class works. I suppose this affects ironman games as well if you quit your game right after applying a PCS.This is my tier list for Stick Ranger 1 from my experience playing the game multiple times. I haven't tested whap happens if you apply a PCS in the mission-preparation lineup and then play a mission before going to the worldview. If - like me - you are simply pissed off that your soldiers show empty PCS slots while their stats become gamebreakingly strong and you feel bad about using them - make sure to always visit the worldmap first and then save. In short: The game stores the stat increase immidiately but the PCS Slot usage only after viewing the worldmap. If, however, after applying the PCS you go to the worldmap first, return to the avenger and then save, this savegame will correctly include both the stat increase AND the PCS application. If you apply a PCS to a soldier and then save the game, this savegame will only contain the stat increase but not the applied PCS (=the bug). I tested a little around with the bug and found out how and when exactly it takes effect:
